Introduction
FOSS Torrents is a project that promotes Free and Open Source Software by sharing them using the BitTorrent protocol. A repository of all Linux distributions, software and games can be found on their website.
If you want to engage with the project or perhaps become a partner you can reach out to the owner of FOSS Torrents at Discord.
What I do
I am supporting FOSS Torrents by subscribing to their master RSS feed containing all releases of the supported Linux distributions, games and software, and then seed them for as long as possible. When I run out of disk space I use autoremove-torrents to get rid of inactive torrents.
I use qBittorrent to subscribe to the above mentioned RSS feed that automatically downloads new torrents. My instance of qBittorrent runs as a service in a VM running Ubuntu Server 24.04. I use Proxmox as a hypervisor. Every once in a while when my hard drive is about to reach its limit I erase torrents that haven’t had any activity for 90 days or more.
